Do People Dowse for Various Things?

Usually it's something that will enrich your solve a problem you have. Water is the most famous one but they also dows for gold or other minerals or metals. Oil of course more recently because it's only been since the mid 1800s that we've cared about oil. And, and I can't trace the history of this back very far. It's clear that at least in those old woodcuts they were looking for some kind of substance underground.
