The Third Missing Mustard Phrase

Pope John XII appointed his nephew as the grand mustardier to the pope. The Pope's mustard maker became a word for someone who was quite pompous, and they had a pointless role in society. And it's a tragedy that that one dropped out of circulation. I think it sounds too much like a euphemism.
