What Do Workers Want?
Industrial psychologist elton mayo looked into this question in the 19 twenties and came up with an answer. If our work has become routine or even monotonous, we are compelled to develop as a balance the practical and social aspect of things. The entertainment industry also stepped in to fill this void. And this workers were told is your reward for a hard day's work, you will be bored, earning money so that you can spend that money in non boring ways. It's sort of a devil's bargain, as it were.
