We learn that elizabeth's fiancee, whose family has been very successful in the hospitality business, is eight years younger than she is. He graduated from m i t where he studied economics and now works in technology in san francisco.
Speaker 4
But i honestly wasn't that focused on him.
Speaker 1
Michael says he was especially thrown by what she said next.
Speaker 4
She said to her fiancee, michael and i used to work together at thernos. And i was just cut off guard again by that, because it sounded like, you know, she was some one of the employees or something. She said, you know, michael was one of the most loyal people, and he wasfo natly victim of one of the a lay offs, and we were very sad to see him go. And then she asked a whole lot of questions about, you know, how i was doing, how my wife was doing, and a little small talk. And then she said something which was a little bit weird, which was a, she asked if we could get coffee some time. And she told us that she'd really like to have back in her life again. And i, you know, i didn't know what to say. I didn't, certainly didn't want to deal with that question.
Speaker 1
So what was her attitude like?
Speaker 4
What i thought was really interesting about, you know, this was the woman who had been on all these magazine covers. She used to walk around with such an air of confidence and certainty, and deferently subscriber to positive thinking and things like that, positive psychology. And in the moment i saw her, and when she came over, she just seemed, i don't know, a little bit worn down. Ah, but she didn't seem like somebody who was, a, had done anything wrong. There was no apology or anything like that. There was no responsibility extended in anything she saida, i just thought at was, it was upset an, you know, if this is somebody who claimed to be promoting transparency and have integrity, and the reality isf neither one of those is true.
