The Evolution of Learned Helplessness
From an evolutionary perspective, the concept of learned helplessness could seem counterintuitive. But it's not that learned helplessness is considered adaptive in the traditional sense and serves our modern-day motives. It does serve a survival function. We would rather suffer but survive than threaten our survival.
