The Origins of Absolute Space
After the Copernican revolution, we don't have a concept of absolute space like that. So we have no fixed physical point of reference as a terminus odd quim that we direct our lives to. The goal is always to go upward to ascend. And so I think we live our lives without a fixed goal in that really visible tangible sense - even if we can't get there by own power, we can at least point to it.
