There was no mention of the word Ukraine in any written documents until the 12th century. The victory over Nazism justified everything done by the revolution since 1917 and since 1991 Putin has heavily promoted this idea that it was the justification for a strong central state. That's his argument. He would argue NATO is using Ukraine to attack Russia. It falls under the influence of Western powers who use Ukraine to attacked Russia. This is just a fair nation myth. Mering modern stuff over things that were. Kevin Rus was not the foundation of any modern Ukrainian state. There was no there wasn't really a concept of a nation state.
