It was only two years since Twist and Shout, but the Isley brothers were commercially dead. Their songwriting royalties from Shout gave them financial cushion to start their own record label. They moved to T-neck New Jersey and named their new label T-neck in its honour. The first single on T-neck, Testify, highlighted their new guitar player, Jimmy James.
