Is Openness to the Complexity of the World Necessary for Effective Political Practice?

I'm pretty skeptical about things like ritual magic as being particularly useful tools, but I can see why for some people they might be. But all of these things are the most productive. They are techniques for cultivating an openness to the complexity of the world. And I think that actually that openness is necessary for effective political practice and it's necessity might only manifest itself in those ways.
