What's the Difference Between Comedy and Jokes?

Comedian David Walliams was recently called out by some one for his behaviour. He says he will drop something if he can't defend it beyond, "Oh, well, i think it's funny" The incident has not really affected his comedy but did make him more cynical about the world.
