Bob Inks: What does it mean to be human? I think that's actually one of the central questions, not only of ethics, but really of all kind of social, ethical, political issues today. For Bavink, the response in our sin is always one of suppression and exchange. We suppress the truth and we exchange it for idols. And if you put into a kind of a recipe, the image of God, the suppression of truth, the exchange for idolatry and mix them all up, you get what Bavink calls religious consciousness.
