Mareno, Pasquen and Kreisberg became the first three members of what would later be called the murder trust. At Pasquen's suggestion they would take out life insurance on Mike Malloy, murder him, collect the insurance money and split it among themselves. On July 29th, 1932 Pasquen drove to the speak easy in New York City where he was employed as an undertaker for a local speakeasy. The men decided that after years of hard living had left Malloy battered and feeble,. It would take little to put him in the ground and the money would certainly be nice.
