The Anointing of Jesus
In John 12, we read that the woman who was anointing him is Mary. It says that she takes a pound of ointment of spike nard very costly and anointed his feet with her hair. In ancient Israel, the feet of the king were considered a symbol of authority and power as well as humility by anointing his feet. The text says that he's being anointed for his burial, but kings were anointed.
