The Undeveloped Economy of Tuvallu

As idyllic as Tuvallu may look, it's important to remember that this is still an undeveloped country. There are undeveloped economies in the world that squander their opportunities through corruption or economic mismanagement. Even if the economy was managed perfectly, it doesn't have any natural resources,. It's too remote to trade effectively, and it just doesn't have enough people to make any industries viable beyond subsistence. Overfishing of surrounding waters has also meant that the Tuvaluans haven't been able to catch as many fish for themselves.
