The Importance of Non-Oral Language in Sports
Most natural sign languages developed as a way for people who can't hear to interact and communicate. The Plains Indian Sign Language was a means to be a lingua franca between different tribes with different spoken languages. On the baseball field, you have two different uses that require two different things. Most interesting thing about sign language in football is that, of course, the Buffalo's Gallaudet is a university for deaf Americans in Washington, D.C.
