What we need in the water is not the water itself. It's all of the electrolytes dissolved in the water, right? Right. That means theoretically, if you could get perfectly pure water with no electrolytes in it at all,. Your stuff wouldn't rest. Especially on a pan or in any environment where iron naturally is. There's probably even salt electrolytes of some kind on the metal itself. Just hanging out from life to be very difficult.
