What Happened Between World War I and World War II?
The United States decided not to join the League of Nations after World War I. There were worries at the time that it was not going to be a strong enough alliance to prevent another war. In part because, you know, if you build an organization committed to instilling a lasting peace and 20 years later, the entire world has evolved into arguably an even more catastrophic war than something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.
