Introduction
Stump Pond is a small body of water near Des Moines, Illinois. It's been the subject of many legends about an enormous creature that once lived there. The lake was partially drained in 1968 to clear out the waters and recover 30-pound catfish. Some people have recovered the fish but no one has ever been able to get a good look at it.
