You can also think about it for confirmation bias, for instance. In these cases, it's like actually way more useful if you're for sure in the forest or in the savannah,. So try to confirm what you already think you know. If you are doing science, or trying to understand who to vote for in the next election, well, in that case, the confirmation bias is really bad. That's not what you should optimize for in these contexts. You have a chicken and egg problem, right? It just goes up with hierarchy. But exactly, you have to be able to take enough perspective to understand that you have to change your thinking.
