Is There a Way Out of Horror?
We all kind of wait for the moment when the horror returns, we expect to be left with shock. So many horror films give the message there is no escape. I think the people who die in horror movies often have it a lot easier than those who live through it. The defiance of death, getting past death, is a horror to us. Immortality has its own terror. When we see immortality in action, we don't like it. There's a poem by Stanley McNeil called The Witch, which I'm going to read to you in a second. We don't go to poetry enough for horror, but there's a lot there.
