Urbanization and the Mechanism of Seclusion
In India, women are more and more secluded even in an urban area because it's an urban area. There is this big demand pull that happens but on the other side, there might be other forces which sort of push more for seclusion. I can imagine very easily that there's some kind of ghettoization based on kinship or caste or religious differences... But the public safety element prevents the intermingling, right? So, to what extent do you think the industrialization and the wage pull force dominates and how much do these other sort of factors take away from that?"
