If you want to know why someone did something or said something, don't wait for a week or a month to ask them. The main issue here is that memories are fallible. We can barely even remember what we had for lunch yesterday, let alone what we were thinking about weeks and sometimes months later. It's very tough for us to learn how to read people when we're just asking nonspecific questions.
