Howard Kurtz: You don't have to be a college student to do this or you can go back to college. But yeah, remember that an MFA is specifically targeted at one thing. Most MFA programs are not for people who want to write literary fiction and become professors of creative writing. Go take some history classes outside your major. Take a history of feudal Japan class. Just audit it, which means, you know, just do some of this stuff.
