Animals and After Lives

If animals are like humans and have after lives, would that also mean they have rights like us? As the catechism says, we owe animals kindness since they're god's creatures. It's perfectly legitimate to use animals to meet human needs such as by using them to perform labor or eating them. We even see this happening in nature - some species of ants actually farm aphids. And obviously, many animals eat other animals, like wolves eating sheep. All of these things are part of the natural order in this life, and there's nothing wrong with them. The next life may have a very different order of things, where wolves and lambs lie down together and lions eat straw,.
