The Importance of Randomization in Arcade Games

Spelunky was made in some ways as a reaction to this sort of static level design. I'm finding that not all arcade games, but like the really good ones like metal slug or, or rainbow islands, you know they do a lot actually to make to make. Yeah like repeat plays interesting despite having static levels and there actually is a lot of randomization in them. In metal slug the the power ups and items that you get are can be very randomized and you know sometimes you'll get like a completely different weapon at a spot  and you have to completely change the way you play that particular part of the game.
