I don't think so at all. There's a bookcase on anthropic rely on the fact that mechanistic interpretability is helpful for capabilities. We might for various reasons not choose to talk about it if that were the case. I just feel like you discover 10 new ideas and 10 ways that things go wrong by trying these in practice. And that empirical learning should be understood as it does with AI.
