Duncan Kennedy: Lusailius could have set up the engine of what we now call satire. He was a fairly rich man, but he wasn't the kind of figure in himself who would necessarily rise to the top of the political tree. But very importantly, he was taken up by one of the most important politicians at the time - Scipio Amelianus. There was a lot of banter and bi play; some of it quite vicious.
