The Scheptor brothers were immigrant Jewish kosher butchers in the early 1930s. They ran afoul of the first New Deal of the Agricultural Adjustment Act, which had these cartel rules about how you could sell chickens. The Roosevelt administration decided to make an example of them and mercilessly prosecuted them. And if you read the court case and everything else, the anti-Semitism was right there.
