In 2012, Stanmore published a paper about muscle activation patterns in patients with recurrent shoulder instability. What we were observing was that particularly lap dorsi and pec major were firing when we were not expecting them. That began to make us understand is that we need to look at not just strength, but also our people recruiting muscles at the right time in the right pattern for stability.
