Would God Have Become Incarnate Had Man Not Sinned?
Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
What Is the Reason for the Incarnation?
Scholasticism is the systematized inquiry into matters of faith using dialectic methods and so forth. There are at least three distinct questions that arise from the 12th to the 13th century, and they're distinct but they're all related. One is the hypothetical would Christ have come if there had been no sin? The second is a question about primacy is Christ primary in God's intention in this is a final causality and so on. And then the third question is really a question that deals with how do we answer the first to which is how do we know what God would do or why he has done what he has done it's a question about authority.
