The Importance of Taking Notes

Students as young as 11 or 12 start taking notes in most school systems. Notes can serve as a cue to the memory of the content, it's a hint or a cue to bring you back to the mind state and understanding the content. Students who take notes get this sort of memory cue that they themselves didn't create and you see a boost in performance. The act of taking notes helps cement things into memory.
