The Ideal Ego
Lacanian: Ideal are all of the standards that you fail to live up to as an individual ego. In Lacanian terms this is a punitive ego, it's the part of you that kicks your own ass. The idea is that these are imaginary. We could even say imaginations of other things other people and the like. And in the order normativity, the big other points to not the ideal ego but the ego ideal.
