How to Locate Your Oral Route
Some people like to use special types of oral airways that have a central channel through which you can put the fiber. The key here is really staying midline and not letting that tongue push you off. For all of these blocks you're going to use 1% lidocaine that's all you need. If someone has a transtracheal block, tell them about why you're not going to use sedation at all. Most people will understand if you tell them that this is for their safety it's so that they don't die. They're going to be pretty open to you doing it the way you do it.
