What's the Utility of the Armchair?
In his new book, David Frum argues that we don't really have a very good story about causal cognition. He says there are three ways in which people investigate and think about it: the armchair, experimental philosophy and cognitive psychologists. The main utility of the armchairs as i see it is to make claims about patterns of judgment common among at least a substantial range of other human beings," he writes.
