The Role of Copper in the Contraceptive Effect
Copper and estrogen have an affinity for each other. As copper increases in the body, whether it is becoming unbound or not bioavailable, that can lead to more stress cortisol which can impact estrogen. So one of the questions I got about relating to this topic is how to avoid getting high estrogen with the copper IUD. We don't know because there hasn't been any research on that. But I think that if you kind of air on the side of caution of like, okay, I'm going to really try to optimize my minerals.
