The Dangers of Time Capsules
Newt Minow wrote a letter to Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvard historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., about Greenfield's dangerous idea. "I shudder at the implications for public leadership of the nation," he said. The people machine, needless to say, was not declared illegal. It went ahead and helped John F. Kennedy win the presidency in 1960.
