The murder of Laura Palmer was solved for viewers in the harrowing final minutes of an episode that aired during Sweep's Week on November 10, 1990. The mystery wrapped up for good in the following two episodes, with the capture, confession, and death of the killer. In recent years, however, Frost admitted that he felt they had an obligation to give the audience some resolution.
