Reading the jod quote made me think of hitchins essay, so i just wanted to read a huge section because it's one of the best essays i've read by a living author. Am by reading it again now i realize how many connections there are between that and the eliot essay. Because hitchins is saying that these men, the best, the elite, from high social classes in a very classed society died before they could marry and have children.
