Mysticos and Related Terms

The Homeric hymn to Demeter stresses this point, and pretty much all later sources do the same. The secrecy surrounding the mysteries is proverbial, it's proverbially unbreakable. Even when people in antiquity were accused of violating the mysteries, which did happen from time to time, there was never a suggestion that we should stop being so secretive about them.
