Rameses began his reign in classic style with an elaborate coronation ceremony. He took on the symbols and functions of a nesu beati, the king of southern and northern Egypt. Rameses called himself the golden falcon, one who has established Ma'at throughout the two lands. A name like that had become practically a trope for recent pharaohs.
