What Is the Difference Between Inflation and Higher Prices?
Is it just that he and I are so old that we remember the stagflation of the 1970s, which was a very different economy? And we're locked into thinking of inflation that way. It's really difficult to talk about generalized prices when they come from specific sectors or instances. We're seeing sector specific activities and these things cascade into demand. What we look like, it's a demand side increase in prices is really a supply side disruption that has changed the pattern of demand.
