The Mechanism of Drury in Primary Polydipsia

Osmolarity and the thirst that we're feeling is a trigger to help replenish intracellular volume depletion. The molecule that does trigger thirst actually has a slightly different aim than the increased osmolarity trigger. High levels of dopamine are clearly associated with increased drinking. Halloparidol, if you inject them intracranially, they completely block angiotensin 2 induced drinking.
