Trace: There's probably a number of people that are in positions at companies that are taking advantage of them and asking them to go above and beyond. In those cases, sure certainly don't overinvest in making your manager happy if it's unfair or if they're taking advantage of you. But the fact that we're holding up as a positive example people that are continuing to take a pay check and and doing the minimum amount for it, seems like a pretty bad idea yet.
