Zeno and Ilas - A Brief History

In some historical sources, it's reported that Ilas kept Zeno's brother imprisoned in an Isorian fortress to exact a measure of control over the emperor. In either 481 or 82, yet another attempt was made on Ilas' life and he lost his right ear. The Emperor agreed to allow his general to leave and head east, to take up the post of Master of Soldiers in Antioch. He didn't offer any significant military assistance, though.
