Reza Shah tried to make Iran a more stable nation. He made forced unveiling of women, Western style suits and hats part of his sartorial changes. There's an apocalyptic kind of narrative in one strain of the nationalist thought that Azashah is the singular figure that stops this from happening. Without him, there would be no Iran on the map today. That's the stakes.
