The Judiciary and the Constitutional Convention
Most delegates at the constitutional convention in 17 87 thought a federal court system was necessary. The articles of confederation relied on state courts to resolve disputes. Judges were expected to be accountable to the constitution of the people who approved it. Few delegates spoke in favor of the concept and there were many questions about the judiciary maintaining its objectivity.
