The Clinton Administration's Reluctance to Flood Taiwan With Weapons

During the Clinton administration this guy worked for the State Department. Our goal was peaceful reunification so like one China, Taiwan and China being one thing we were entertaining that idea as a possibility. We will not provide Taiwan with capabilities that might provoke an arms race with the PRC or other countries in the region. Decisions on the release of arms made without proper consideration of the long-term impact both on the situation in the Taiwan Strait and on the region as a whole would be dangerous and irresponsible.
