The Importance of Sound in Storytelling

Roxanne Jones: Can you talk a little bit about the importance of sound for you and relationship to storytelling? I hear what I write. When I learned to write, I started writing. And I've always heard it in my head. You can't find your own voice unless you're listening for it. The writer's job is to go down deep enough to feel that rhythm and let it move memory and imagination to find the words. She cites Virginia Woolf as perhaps the best example of the use of rhythms in prose.
