Domestication - It Could Take a While

It probably takes thousands of years to domesticate something. The entire central plains prairies of North America were basically a highly managed ranch using fire, humans kept them treeless by burning and providing grazing lands for the bison. There's similar stories you could tell about Hawaii or California or Australia or Canada,. All of these ecosystems that were pristine or actually shaped by indigenous people's land management practices.
