The Magic of Winifred Norbury
The original theme is quite obscured, both in form and in harmony. There's an underlying passion here that I haven't heard yet in the piece. And there's a moment where we are suddenly flashed to Elgar's core melancholic personality. Maybe it's just because it comes after the humor of Variation 7. But to me there's a little more going on here than meets the eye.
